St.John's Athletes Of The Month December
|
January 20, 2012 - Congratulations to Maggie Whelan and Darrin Wilkins who were named last night as the Molson-Coors St.John's Athletes of the Month for December 2011.
Maggie recently set 2 provincial swimming age group records in the 50 meter (31.65) and the 100 meter (1:06.90) backstroke, and was on the team setting a 4x100 meter medley record of 4:38.98. Darrin helped his Trinity-Placentia Junior Flyers hockey team move into second place with 6 goals and 3 assists in 4 games.

January 19, 2012 - ST. JOHN’S – Sport Newfoundland and Labrador has announced that applications are available for the 2012 Sport Newfoundland and Labrador Scholarship Program. The deadline for applications is March 11, 2012.

Premier's Athletic Award Applications
|
December 23, 2011 - Applications are now being accepted for the Premier's Athletic Awards. This program recognizes athletic excellence by providing financial assistance to help offset training and competition costs.
Qualifying athletes should complete the application and submit it to their Provincial Sport Organization by January 27 2012.
Criteria and conditions are outlined on the application form which is available on the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador website here:

Synchro Silver At US Masters

October 28, 2011, Synchro NL - Earlier this month the Terra Nova Aqua Elite Masters Synchronized Swimming Team attended the US Masters in Roseville, California. The team placed second in the 20-29 age group and attained the second highest scores of the meet! Congratulations to team members Charlotte Allison, Kim Burrage, Sarah Burrage, Shannon Driscoll, Allison DeLong, Katy Eldridge, Rebecca Gladney, Holly Whelan, and coach Laura Cole.

October 24, 2011, Baseball NL - Baseball Newfoundland & Labrador held its annual meeting and election of officers this past weekend in Grand Falls-Windsor. John Janes of St. John's was re-elected to his third year as President of the Association. October 14, 2011, Tennis NL - The Tennis Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Men's and Ladies Championships started Thursday October 13th and run until Sunday October 16th at Greenbelt Tennis Club in St. John's. Over 50 players take to the courts in Men's and Ladies Singles, Men's and Ladies Doubles, Mixed Doubles and Men's Masters events.
