           Mission / Objectives -- extract from Contstitution NL Karate Union

                 "The objectives of the Association are:
                    (a) to promote and support the traditional Japanese karate systems currently known and represented
                         as:
                         1) Karate Federation Newfoundland & Labrador (a.k.a. “Karate Newfoundland & Labrador”) and
                         2) Newfoundland Karate Association.
                    (b) to support instruction, training and coaching in the Japanese martial art known as karate and to
                          promote the principles and traditions of the Karate styles traditionally recognized as being
                         of  Japanese origin;
                    (c) to promote and support the development of the sport of karate in the Province of Newfoundland
                          and Labrador;
                    (d) to pursue government support for the karate membership of  NLKU;
                    (e) to operate a non-profit karate organization in accordance with the objectives of the NLKU;
                    (f) to promote the highest standard of conduct, skill and efficiency amongst its members;
                    (g) to establish and maintain regular and effective communications to keep the membership well
                          informed of developments in karate at the provincial and national levels;
                    (h) to promote and support clinics and training camps for the development of athletes, coaches and
                          officials in karate; and
                     (i) to promote and support karate competitions locally, regionally, provincially and nationally. ..."
