Local Diver attends National in Toronto

Cassandra Blackmore of EDGE Diving Club attended the Speedo Junior Development Nationals that were held in Toronto from July 6-8/18. Cassie competed in two events, 3M springboard and Tower, in the age group of Ladies D (D1/10 year olds)(D2/11year olds)

Cassie was one of 18 divers in her age group of D2 fighting in the preliminaries for one of five spots in the finals in 3M springboard. She was successful and came away with a 4th place finish overall out of 9 D1 and D2 divers ( ages 10 & 11 respectively).

During the Tower competition she was one of ten competitors in the D2 group preliminaries. She secured a top 5 finish to bring her to the finals, where she competed against seven other divers and ultimately came away with a 6th place finish overall


Cassandra is a diver with EDGE Diving Club, based out of the Aquarena in St. John's, and is coached by Rob Scott and Lesley Billard.

She achieved her National Qualifying standard scores at competitions in Nova Scotia and Winnipeg this year, to secure a spot at the Speedo Junior Development Nationals 2018. She was the only diver to attend nationals this year from Atlantic Canada.

She is an 11 year old living in Torbay Newfoundland.
